지금 그리고 그날
    -싸이판에 영혼이여!-

 

 

지금 여기,
저 멀리 수평선 너머

 

하얗게, 부서지며 쌓여간
산호의 껍질 같은 그리운 울음이 있었다.

 

썰물처럼 밀려가고
밀물처럼 다시 돌아온 그날의 기억.

 

오늘도 여전히 그날처럼
가슴에 묻어둔 애환들

 

여기, 태평양의 심장
사이판의 어머니 마음으로
당신을 존경하며 깊이 위령했기에

 

이제야 놓아줘야지
용서와 자비를 나눔하며

 

떠오르는 태양 아래
푸른 야자수 숲길을 함께 걸으며

우리, 다시 웃어야지

 

본래 우리는 하나였기에.

       -To the souls of Saipan!-

 

Here and now,
Beyond the distant horizon.

 

White, breaking and piling up
Like coral shells—

A sorrowful cry once remained

Like the ebbing tide

It drifted away
Like the returning waves

That day’s memories come back again

 

Today, as on that day

Sorrows buried deep in the heart

 

Here, in the heart of the Pacific
With the spirit of Saipan’s mother

We honor you, With deep respect and praye

 

Now, it is time to let go

To share forgiveness and compassion

 

Under the rising sun
Walking together along the emerald palm-lined path

Let us smile once more

 

For we were always one.
